Transferring Calls to Operator from CUE
Cisco Unity Express has the ability to route calls to an Operator Extension on the behalf of users. There are a few different ways that the Operator extension is used by Unity Express:
- After a message is sent to a Subscriber, the caller has the option to press Hash (#) for further options. If options 1 (Standard delivery) or 2 (Urgent delivery) are selected, after the call is transferred, the caller is transferred to the Operator
- As part of the default auto attendant, 0 can be selected (the zero-out number can be changed)
- While listening to a personal greeting, the caller can press "0" to be transferred to the zero-out number. If this is not set under the voicemail mailbox configuration, the default system value is used
The global operator extension is used in scenarios 1 and 2 above, and 3 when not overridden at the subscriber level. In the example below, the operator resides at extension 2003.
voicemail operator telephone 2003
In the following configuration, the zero-out number is set, to an alternate number of "2004". Note that this only applies for scenario 3 above. Scenarios 1 and 2 will always use the system-wide variable.
voicemail mailbox owner "Terrance" size 180
zerooutnumber "2004"
Now, observe the results of the above configuration on the voicemail mailbox.
